Where to save incremental or differential backup to?

Thread needs solution

Hi and thanks for taking the time to read:
I have Acronis® True Image Echo Workstation® (build 8,206)
I have successfully created 1 FULL backup of my PC.
Now I want to do incremental or differential backups from here forward.
Couple quick questions:
1) Is this the right method (am i think correctly in my process thus far)?
2) What location do I direct the differential or incremental backup to (do I save it to the exact same location as the FULL backup ...........do I actually save it to that same exact file or just the same disk). Can you give me an example on what the full file name of the full backup would look like v.s. the incremental or differential?
3) How do I recover if ever need be? Should I save a copy of the actual program to my disk that I'm backing up to? Won't I need that to fully restore my computer to it's state?
Thanks,
Mike

Hello Mike!

Thank you for your questions! I understand your concern and will be glad to shed the light to the situation!

Incremental/differential backup is ideal for constant backups: they allow you to roll back to any system state and save the space in the backup location. Still they have threir differences and it's up to you to decide what type of backup to use. I'd advise you to look through this KB article, you may find it useful.

Incremental/differential backup should be saved to the same folder where the full backup is located. The incremental/differential backups will be named after the full archive, so the entire chain will look like "Full - Full2 - Full3 -...". And in case you're in need of recovering the machine, just select the incremental/differential backup that matches the date that you'd like to return machine to, and it will start the process of restoring the archive. So, for instance, if you have a chain of Full and 2 incremental backup (Full2 and Full3), and you need to restore the latest state of the computer, just point the product on Full3 backup.
