XP does not boot from a cloned SSD drive

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I bought an Intel SSD and I would like to transfer on it my Windows XP system from a Seagate SATA drive.

I used True Image Echo with Universal Restore but did not add any driver ....

I have tried cloning and backup the entire old drive and restore it on the new SSD.

The result is the same XP from the SSD does not boot an the only thing I see is a blinking cursor in the upper left corner.

I have used Windows installation CD and I can see the windows installation on the new drive and tried, one at a time followed by reboot:
- chkdsk /r
- fixboot
- fixmbr

No change.

I have manually copied ntldr from the old drive on the SSD. No change.

There must be hundreds of cases when similar migrations are done but google did not help me too much so I believe that I do something wrong ...

Please can you help ....

Thank you,
Razvan

Hello Razvan,

Thank you for posting and welcome to the forum. I will definitely help you with this issue.

Could you please get back to me with Acronis Report 51 collected from the unbootable machine so that I can take a look at your disk partition structure? It will tell us why your machine is not booting.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.
