2010 deleting or overwriting previous archive (when using scheduler) and no the box is not checked.
I do simple full backups once a week. The first time I built a scheduled task, I didn't notice the check box "A new full backup overwrites the previous archive." So when I seen my last full archive was deleted I went and edited the task and paid better attention, unchecked the box and only the Full was selected, "A new full backup overwrites the previous archive." was not selected.
Along comes my weekly backup and backups runs fine, but my previous archive is gone! I go in and check my task, all looks good there. Then I decide I will delete task and build from scratch. Then the new task I just built, I force to run immediately, not waiting on the schedule date and time to start. All was fine it did not delete my archive from earlier on the day that was run via the scheduler. I thought all was fine. But to make sure I change the task start date to run at 1AM the next day (that was today).
It ran just fine, but deleted the archive I forced to run earlier. Oh, I am on XP Pro all SP and updates and build 6,053
So what is happening is when I let the scheduler execute the task, the previous archive is being deleted. I attached a pic of backup method screen.
I don't submit anything to Acronis for tech support, I have had months before reply. I used every version since 8 and they just get full of more features I don't want and get worse reliability. I should just go back to V11, it was solid. I had a post batch file in it that changed my archive name to date and time. That was the only thing I thought V11 needed. They have that feature in 2010, but it keeps deleting my most recent archive, if I let the scheduler execute.
BTW I know all about incremental and differential and their differences, but I have tons of space and want fulls.

I agree that what you want should work right out the box from acronis.
however, if desired you can use Chain2gen with acronis and get the results you are trying to achieve.

Hello all,
Let me clarify this situation for you.
We are aware of this issue, we have forwarded it to our Development Team for fixing some time ago. For now, this issue is fixed and will be available in next build for Acronis True Image Home 2010, the exact release date is unknown, but we will update the forum as soon as it's released.
Additionally to this, you are welcome to ask me any other questions concerning Acronis, and I will assist you further.
Thank you for your understanding!

Alexander,
You wrote this about a month ago. I just upgraded to ATI 2010 (from 11) and am having the same problem as others with the automatic consolidation. I am well within the 30-day guarantee period and am not willing to hold on without this matter being fully resolved. Your indciation of an undefined period for resolving this is not adequate for me. Please let me know a more specific date for the update that will cure this problem or else I have no option but to request my 30-day refund.

Hello Rene,
Than you for posting,I will be happy to provide you with the complete explanations.
We are unable to provide you with an estimated time. Our developers are working to create a new build. We are trying to include the most major issues that we were able to detect with the help of our customers. When a stable build is created and tested, we will release it.
Please do not hesitate to ask additional questions if the provided information is not clear or you need a further assistance.
Thank you.

Oleg,
Thank you for your reply. But I had already found out that fact (that no specific time line can be provided) through other interactions with Acronis, which to me, as stated in my previous posting, was not acceptable. This, in my humble opinion, is a fundamental flaw in the current version, that Acronis should take more seriously. I have therefore canceled my upgrade to Home 2010, received my refund, and returned to using ATI 11, which works fine and does not have this flaw. (In fact doing so has made me realize that I really had no reason for and there really was no need for me to upgrade in the first place)
More importantly, maybe, this experience has also damaged the high and impeccable regard I had for Acronins.
Sincerely, Rene Moreno

Hello Alexander, while I appreciate all your efforts I must say this still doesn't work. While feeling fat dumb and happy I have been making bu's weekly. I finally had a situation where I needed to restore my computer to a previous time...NO BACKUP. Acronis has been writing over my previous backups and the one I had left was the one with the problem. It took me 3 full days to get my system back to what it was and I still don't have an image I can depend on. cdj
