2010 Home and Windows 7 64bit, desktop needs manual refresh

Thread needs solution

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, and Acronis TrueImage Home 2010, build 6.053. NVIDIA graphics, 8GB RAM.

The problem is that when I save a file on the desktop, the desktop needs a manual refresh (F5) before the icon or thumbnail appears. The file IS on the disk, just the icon is not displayed. Likewise, if I delete a file from the desktop, the icon remains although the file IS deleted. A second attempt to delete the file results in a "file not found" error, and a F5 refresh makes it better.

I do have my desktop files in a non-standard location.

A Google search found one other example of this bizarre condition, which was apparently resolved by uninstalling Acronis Home 2009.

Is this a known problem?

Phil:

I have seen this occur on PCs that do not have any Acronis products installed on them. It comes and goes. It's probably a Windows 7 issue.

I have the exact same problem running the same OS and Build as you. I have verified that it is caused by Acronis since an un-installation of True Image will resolve the issue.

I would re-state the original posters question, is this a known issue and when can we expect a fix?

Brent:

Not to confuse the issue, but I have two PCs with Windows 7 x64 that have never had any Acronis product installed on them, and they both do it.

Keep watching your PC after uninstalling TI. Some day you'll see the symptom return. It comes and goes. Rebooting fixes it.

@ Phil Thornton and Brend Forster:

the answere from K0LO is true - it's a generall problem from Windows 7.
