2010 performance issue (pits)

Thread needs solution

I'm in the process of running a restore where I selected to recover files and folders. I selected all of the files and folders except for the recovery and CHKDSK files. The process has been running for about 5 hours and the current estimate to complete is 23 hours remaining. Previously I had restored the entire HD using the same TIB and it was restored in under an hour.

I chose files and folders because when I selected to restore the entire drive (my boot drive) after the restore I could not boot.

If it's taking longer than about 3 minutes per GB, then either you're using a USB drive and ATI (or actually the linux OS it uses for restores) is treating the USB as a USB 1 drive or some other hardware recognition problem is wonking things up. In either of these cases, you need a boot disk with some diff hardware drivers to work better on your PC. You'd have to contact Chat or Tech Support to handle that.

The TIB file is on an eSATA drive. Previously I had restored the entire image from the same drive to my internal drive and the process took just under an hour. I'm using the same setup except now I performing a Files & Folder recovery.

The drive that contains the TIB file can be connected as eSATA or USB. I've run test using both and as suspected the restore using the eSATA connection is about 3 times faster, e.g. one hour vs 3 hours. In that I'm still using the same hardware and the only difference is that I performing a Files and Folder recovery (using the eSATA connection) I'm assuming that there is a major issue within TI 2010.

The recovery is still running (knowing what I know now I would do it differently) and if the progress screen is correct the total process will take about 28 hours for about 250 GB.
