2011 schedule task to run every other week
In ATI 2010, I had alternating backups that were scheduled to run every other Friday. I can't figure out how to schedule a task for every other week in 2011. Am I just missing it?

If you want your backups to run every 2nd Saturday (for example), TI 2011 (2011 added by edit) cannot do that. However, you can do it by using the Windows Task Scheduler as outlined in my posting here.

You actually mean to say, TI 2011 can't do that. TI 2010 did scheduling just fine thank you very much. Why has there been an amputation of a very powerful feature from 2011? 2010 you could actually view schedules (multiple at that) and edit to your hearts content. Where is the schedule summary in 2011?
This relates to my post, where I have no idea how many schedules, if any I have created. One, two, ten? How do I know? Or does 2011 only allow 1 scheduled task to be created.. ever?

This is a ridiculous functionality regression in TIH 2011. I have a set of 3 different backup jobs that each run every 3 weeks (i.e. a 3 weekly backup cycle). It seems I cannot setup this same scheme in 2011 which means that 2011 (which I just bought!) is useless for me. What are Acronis thinking of by removing key functionality such as this?

Richard,
Thank you for correcting my lack of clarification. Yes, I was referencing the scheduling limitations of version 2011.
The 2011 version is completely different than prior versions.
The scheduling calendar is gone. The "MyBackups' listing of tasks will display whether scheduled or not but you must look at each task summary to see if scheduled.
Editing a task can be done (according to Acronis) but when edited, problems arise. It is best to avoid editing a task.
There is no limit to the number of tasks which can be scheduled--or at least of I am not aware of such a limitation. For certain, it will accept considerable number of scheduled tasks.
Chris,
As mentioned in post #2, the Windows Scheduler does provide for schedules to run every X weeks so it can handle every 3rd week.
The TrueImage scheduler would run it on the the 7th and 28th (for example) but it would be on different dayis of the week each month.

I have just purchased ATI 2011 to replace ATI 2010, so I am appalled that Acronis have removed function, so that I can no longer schedule backups every other week. Acronis have to LEARN that this type of behaviour is really unacceptable. We have to RELY on their software for backups and they continue to mess us about. I would welcome a comment from an Acronis representative on this matter, to let us know why they removed this function and whether they have plans to reinstate it.

Lennie,
I assume you are aware of the Monthly schedule option which lets you schedule
multi times during month and repeat next month on the same date(s). You could have a backup occur every 1st and 15th. The (date(s) would be the same each month but the day of week would differ each month.
The scheduler also provides for user to choose a backup date such as every 1st Saturday(Sunday) or every 2nd Saturday(Sunday) or every 3rd Saturday(Sunday) or every 4th Saturday(Sunday). The problem here is that there is only one choice so user has no choice of every 2nd or 3rd Saturday/Sunday, etc.
In my opinion, this was an oversight on their part or were unaware of the need for such an option. I am hopeful this will be added to future fixes.
This scheduling can be done by using the Windows Scheduler.

GroverH,
Thanks for those details. I was aware of the monthly options, and it really does not fit my requirements.
I was enticed into this purchase by statements saying that the scheduling capabilities were being expanded. For example the following statement is in the user guide,
"Enhanced scheduler – the completely redesigned scheduler makes scheduling much easier." This proved to be completely incorrect as far as I am concerned.
I don't need a redesigned user interface. I need stable software, that is not buggy, and I need incremental facilities which are compatible with the previous version.
After hitting this problem I hit another where the product constantly asked for authentication credentials for a NAS server which has none. The program got into a loop and would not let me out until I supplied credentials which do not exist.
So I have used System Restore to get back to my ATI 2010 (which itself is pretty flaky) and have requested a full refund for ATI 2011.
ATI is recommended software by PcPro magazine and has the "promise" to be the sort of product we need. But each release is packed full of bugs and released far too early. I hope Acronis is listening.
