2013 Image mounting failure
I recently upgraded from ATI 10 to True Image 2013 on my Vista SP2 Dell Inspiron 1720 and have so far been able to:
create a bootable CD,
boot from this CD,
create backup images of my system and data partitions and
view the contents of these images using Windows Explorer.
What I can't seem to do is mount backup images from within True Image, irrespective of whether they were created using the new or the old version. Every time I try, I see a progress window showing the application going through the stages of analysing, initialising and assigning drive letters etc. During the last of these stages, I see an autoplay of my image (capture ii.gif) and this is reflected in my drive list (capture iii.gif). The progress window, however, continues to indicate that drive letters are being assigned and, eventually, this process fails 'Cannot assign a drive letter ...' (capture.gif). At this point, the autoplay window vanishes and the newly assigned drive letter disappears from my drive list.
Is this a known problem, please?

Thanks. There is a hidden partition, holding Dell's Media Direct, but I always back up partitions on their own, ie the Media Direct partition wasn't intentionally included in the backup I was trying to mount here. Wouldn't it show in the Windows Explorer view of the backup?
I attempted the mount from within True Image 2013 and I don't remember being given the option to mount in R/W or Read Only. I'll have another look and see if I'm missing something. Or maybe I missed something when I did the back up in the first place?

Nope, it doesn't appear you missed anything.
Check out this thread and see if it helps.

Ah, thanks very much for the big hint. I hadn't realised the significance of the bottom left corner of the image here. I put in a free drive letter and the mount completed with no problems. It looks as though I have to put in a drive letter before the mount can work. It's all slightly messy compared to ATI 10 but everything does work. Thanks again. I'll check out your link, btw, to see if it does indeed help.

Your 2nd capture (capture_iii.gif) shows that you already have a copy mounted as Drive H.
When done with the mount, don't forget to execute the unmount option--either by right clicking or open the TI Utilities.
You may also want to consider renaming your disks to include their drive letters (11 char or less)
Could help to avoid confusion in restoring or mounting in choosing the wrong drive.
