2014 Perpetual - Restoring image starts a backup after completed

Thread needs solution

I'm using 2014 on a Windows 7 PC that is configured as my media server. Normally I never have to restore but I made some changes and decided to revert back a few days.

My question: Once the restore was completed it automatically started a backup overwriting the previous days backup. How can I keep it from doing this after a restore?

Thanks..

Michael, from the limited information provided, it would seem that you have scheduled automatic backups to run on your PC and subsequently have restored the PC to an earlier date which then caused Acronis to believe either a scheduled backup was missed or was due to be run.

The only methods of preventing the new backup from happening are:

  • Remove the backup drive before rebooting into Windows after a restore (if possible).

  • Boot into Windows Safe Mode and either copy or move the backup used for recovery.

  • Disable the Acronis Scheduler 2 service as soon as possible when starting Windows.

  • Change the option in the Advanced Scheduler page to introduce a delay time for any missed backups, i.e. delay for 30 - 60 minutes to give time to prevent any missed scheduled backup from running / overwriting your existing backup.
