2014 True Image recovery disk cannot recover from a Nas device
I have created a recovery disc, but I get the error message "Error "Failed to open backup. It may be inconsistent or corrupted."". I note that this is a known issue with USB flash drive [ATIHXOXIV-720]. I am backing up to a WD MyCloud NAS device. My recovery disc from 2013 works fine, and recovers archives created by 2014. The main console is also able to verify the archives.

Problem is that it is not possible to recover data via the Acronis Rescue disk route because the .tib file is falsely peceived as corrupt by Acronis TI.
The solution that works for me is to create an FTP connection to the WDMyCloud device during the recovery operation.
0. Make a note of the IP address to your WDMyCloud, in advance. You can right click WD MyCloud Dashboard icon on a working PC get it.
1. Start PC with Rescue Boot disk
2. Select option 'Recovery'
3. Select 'Browse' for for backup file (opens a new window)
4. Choose 'Create FTP Connection'
5. Connect to FTP
- Enter IP address for WDMyCloud.
- Enter same username and password that you use to login to WD MyCloud Dashboard.
- Click 'Connect'
6. FTP connection to MyCloud appears in left hand panel and directories in right hand panel
7. Select appropriate .tib file and recover in normal way.
This works with TI 2014 and probably a number of earlier versions.
Applies also to forum item 53560 and others I have seen in the past.
