Access is Denied to some files/folders in Mounted Backup Disk Image

Thread needs solution

Hi all,

I have been using Acronis True Image (currently 2015, build 6613) for years, and before that, the older Disk Manager. I have always used these products with success, including recovering from a complete HDD crash a few years ago. - Thank goodness fo full partition Image Backups!

However, I recently suffered a disaster where an apparent "crash" occured while running Windows 10. Upon having decided I needed to start over by Restoring using my (very recent) Partition Image. It didn't take long for me to find out that there was NO OPERATING SYSTEM included on the Backup. [I am sharing this in case anyone has any comments/discussions they may wish to have on the subject.]

Actually, the reason for this post is to ask if anyone can help me find how to correct a problem that is plaguing me in trying to recover data files from the Image Backup. I have Mounted the  partitions and using Windows File Explorer, can get access to many of the files, but some (of course the most "mission critical" ones) deny me access. I note they are Write protected, and when I remove this (under Properties) the tick does disappear, but as soon as I re-look at their Attributes, the Read Only tick is back - and I can't access the file.

Please, has anyone got any informed commentsto get me moving again.

Regards, Ian K

Maybe your access problems is just a path issue.  Using Windows Explorer.

Either double click on the tib file name; or RIGHT click on the tib file name, Click on the Acornis tab, click on Mount

C:

users

your user name (maybe Ian)

Choices:

Access to pictures  Click Picture

Access to letters, click Documents (not my documents)

If  you try something from within Document and you hit  a wall, backtrack one tree and try again just like access to Pictures  is not from within Documents.

Is the files you need inside \users\Your user name\ or before you access \Users?

Hi GH Storage,

Many thanks for posting for me so quickly. After I posted yesterday, I found that while I couldn't access these files (which were mounted on Virtual Disks), I could Copy complete Folders. So having Copied some Folders, then Pasted them to a "real" HDD folder, I found that I then was able to access files within them.

So, the present position seems to be that I have solved my delima, however I will confirm that after I have actually opened some files, worked on them, etc.  I'll keep you posted (boom, boom!!)
