Access to Folder on NAS denied
Backup from c: drive to NAS works
Backup of a folder from NAS to d: drive used to work too, but now:
Access to file or folder denied. (0x40014)
function = "WNetAddConnection3W",
filename = "\\ix2-200-THUBCE"
Tag = 0xF35F747B3B21FA6F
Login failed: unknown user name or password (0xFFF0)
code = 8007052E)
Tag = 0xBD28FDBD64EDB8C3
Where can I specify the user name and password for the NAS for Acronis T I 2014?
Kurt

Hi Kurt,
Please edit your back up location, change it, save, then change it back to the desired destination. You should be re-prompted for credentials and authentication.

I'm somewhat reluctent to revive a four year old thread, but I'm running into the same problem with TIH 2014 Premium and I can not get it resolved. I'm doing a File Backup from a directory on my NAS as the source and to a directory on a hard drive (the same machine where TIH is installed) as the destination.
The error I'm getting is:
-----------
Access to the file or folder is denied. (0x40014)
function = "WNetAddConnection3W",
filename = "\\11-NAS"
Tag = 0xF35F747B3B21FA6F
A specified logon session does not exist. It may already have been terminated (0xFFF0)
code = 80070520)
Tag = 0xBD28FDBD64EDB8C3
------------
It appears to me that TIH is not able to get to the source because there is no place in TIH to enter the credentials of the NAS when it is the source. What's really odd about this, like the OP, this worked fine for at least a year and then POOF!!! All of a sudden it stopped working. Even odder, is that there is another directory on the NAS that I backup the same way and it continues to work.
I have deleted the backup job in question and recreated it to no avail. At this point I'm afraid to uninstall TIH because other backup jobs are working fine.
I've searched the forum and the KB and all similar cases imply that the credentials needed to be applied to the destination but in my case the credentials appear to be required for the source.
Suggestions?
Thanks.

Is the source folder mapped? If not, try creating this mapping. It it already exists, delete and recreate it.

Yes, it was mapped. I deleted it, recreated it, and still no success. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Another item of note: If I change the source folder to another folder on the NAS, I get prompted for credentials. But I do not when selecting the original folder that I'm trying to back up. I feel TIH has 'remembered' the credentials somewhere. If I could edit or delete the existing credentials, I think my problem would be resolved. But I never get the 'edit' or 'enter' credentials prompt. Any clues?

phred,
Take a look at the link below (credit to Pat L) and see if that works for you:

I'm sorry. I was certain I had posted yesterday that this issue has been resolved. Searching ever deeper in the Acronis forum yesterday I found that the credentials are stored in the registry. I can't find the link to that post now, but I copied it for myself for future reference. Here is the solution:
-----
the login credentials are saved in the registry and are not removed
just delete the connections inside the smb folder or ftp if you are using ftp.
HKEY_USERS\S-**your sid**\SOFTWARE\Acronis\Connections\smb
if you don't know your sid, you can get it by using this command in the powershell or cmd:
whoami /user
result will look like this
User Name SID
**my name** S-0-0-00-000000000-000000000-0000000000000-0000
-----
So in my case, the registry key was:
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1236606751-863552467-1794222867-1001\Software\Acronis\Connections\smb\xxxx where xxx is the name of the backup job.
Once I deleted it and restarted TIH and set up the job, I was prompted for credentials. And the backup proceeded as expected.
I apologize to the person who originally posted that for not being able to find it now and give credit where credit is due. But I did offer thanks on his thread.

Just apoint for anyone reading this thread:
1. TI 2014 - under "destination" click on "network" and drill down to your target share. On the right panel will be a button you can click at the top to enter credentials. Click this and change them. Test connection and you are good to go.
2. TI 2016 currently asks only once and will never request your credentials again. You have no way to edit them easily.
To ask TI 2016 for the credentials dialogue, drill down to your network share then click on the ">" that is in the top right of the screen where the panel listing the network path is. This button will bring up the credentials request.
3. if '2' gives no satisfaction, Edit the registry as above.
If you upgrade or uninstall using the regular uninstall routine this data will not change and it can cause issues when you begin to put together new backup schedules.
I can't speak for TI 2015.... so not sure when the common sense approach of manual credential management was changed sorry.
