Accessing folder and files on another computer

Thread needs solution

I am using Acronis True Image 2015 running Windows 10.  I do a full backup with incremental backup weekly to an external hard drive.

Can I open these folders and files on another computer without Acronis being installed or do I have to have install Acronis on this other computer?  Does it have to be the same version or can it be a newer version?

How do I open a particular folder and the files on the other computer?

Thank you.

Fredric, welcome to these User Forums.

Sorry but when you do an ATI backup of your Files & Folders these are stored inside a special container file (similar to a zip file) which can only be opened by the Acronis application, so you would need to have ATI installed on the second computer.

Installing ATI also provides Windows shell integration to allow ATI .TIB files to be opened via Windows Explorer.

The only way to look at .TIB files on another computer without ATI installed would be to boot that computer from the Acronis bootable Rescue Media but this will only allow you to see the contents of folders, not to actually open any files, as this method is provided for Backup & Recovery purposes.
