Accidently made a sector-by-sector backup. Any way to change?

Thread needs solution

I made a backup using a startup disk of a 150GB hard drive with only 6GB of data (Windows XP). I made the backup sector by sector so it's a 150GB .tib file.

Is there anyway to make it not a sector-by-sector backup so it's a smaller file? Right now, it's unnecessarily huge.

Create a new backup task in which you do not select sector-by-sector.
There is no way to "convert" the current backup. Just make new backups.

Bummer,

makes sense, I just don't want to visit the client again to make another backup.

No way to restore, then backup anew?

The best backup is one of the actual disk.

Restoring to another disk and then making a backup of the temp disk, while it may work, in the long run, there could hge issues with software as it relates to disk signature checking.

It is possible to restore and then do a backup but I would not recommend.

If you do it, put the target disk inside a similar computer before doing a backup.
