acronis 14 wont reinstall

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I had a copy of Acronis 14 on my PC before upgrading to windows 10 recently.

I've just come to take a backup only to find Acronis 14 missing, just the program, other bits are still there.

No problem I thought I'll reinstall, Hmm not quite. It's telling me that it already exists on my system and I should uninstall prior to reinstalling.

As you can imagine I can't uninstall as the programs not there!

Again no problem I'll use the Acronis uninstall/cleanup utility to sort it.

The utility ran ok but I still get the same message, I'm assuming that there is a registry entry somewhere which has not been removed?

Any ideas gratefully accepted.

Thanks Al

Hmmm.... Each time I tried to reinstall it asked for 2 serial numbers. The first was for version 14 the second was for the previous version as 14 was an update.

Each time I gave it 14 and then 12's serial numbers.

This time, after running the cleanup utility again, I gave it the version 14 serial number then version 10 (my first version).

It worked and reinstalled version 14.

I'm assuming, and its a big assumption, that because all my versions after version 10 were updates that there serials numbers were not valid for this operation.

It would have saved me a great deal of time if it had been stated 'use your original version serial number'  instead of  'use the previous version serial number.

Not to worry, all sorted now.

Al, thanks for posting your solution to this issue.  I have not encountered any problems when entering serials for upgrade versions where I have had to go further back to older version serials, but guess there is always a first-time for these things!

Thanks for this.

Its posiible of course that the second utility clean up did a better job than the first and it was nothing to do with the serial numbers..

Main thing is, all up and running now.

Thanks for your comments.
