Acronis 2010 not working - says it needs to reboot to clone and nothing happens
Acronis True Image HD 2010 came with a sold state drive I bought. (ADATA SP900 128GB) I am trying to copy my current C: drive from my hard disk drive to the SSD so I can get rid of the HDD. Here is the sequence of events:
-I open Acronis, select clone, select automatic and select my HDD as source and SSD as destination. I uncheck the S: partition ("stuff" -- movies, music, etc.)
-Acronis shows a progress window and a taskbar icon that says "Scheduled task has started" and then it says "0% complete"
-After a few seconds to a minute, the taskbar icon has a popup that says "Reboot required to complete this operation." If I don't restart in 10 minutes, it will be canceled.
-I click the reboot option and the progress window says "Operation completed successfully" and within like 2 seconds the computer shuts down
-When it reboots, in DOS it says "Starting operation system... starting Acronis loader
-Takes me a screen with Acronis icon that says "Loading please wait"
-Turns into a sky blue screen with a yellow cursor pointer and a box that says "EN" in the bottom right corner. I can't click that box or anything.
-Few seconds later, computer shuts down and restarts like nothing ever happened. No messages or dialogue from Acronis. Nothing on my new blank SSD.
WHAT THE HELL? Help please? I only bought this SSD because it came with this software and my Windows 7 disk is across the country. And now it's not even working.

This is really a BS answer and BS support. So essentially what you're saying is that the feature called CLONE doesn't work and don't use it? So, instead of the simple, straightforward clone process, we're all supposed to use this clunky workaround? What if I don't have an optical drive?
On top of that, the version of Acronis True Image HD that is included with Crucial SSDs DOES NOT ALLOW FULL BACKUPs. So, it suggests I by the full version. So, again, this is pretty poor customer service.

Jonathan,
Most of the people on this blog are NOT Acronis employees. They are ATI users who are willing to give their time to help new ATI users, like you, that are having difficulties. You will find that there a lot of ATI users that have the same opinion as you with regard to the product and service.
I recommend you contact Acronis directly and complain to them.
I also recommend you follow JamesF's advice. Creating the boot CD is straightforward and should only take a couple of minutes.
