Acronis 2012 Notification Failure

Thread needs solution

Problem with Acronis sending email notifications.

I have a problem with the notification operating improperly. I'm guessing that it is something in the registry from the upgrades and patches that have been applied, but can't find out where.

The issue is that when it sends the email to the email server, it sends the command "MAIL FROM: @16.0.3" which is an invalid email address and the email server rejects it as a smtp 5.5.2 syntax error.

Question is, where is it storing the "mail from" address at? The "16.0.3" is part of the IP address.

Thanks

The email settings are in the backup options.

If they are correct there, test them from the Acronis UI. If the test email works, and you still have the same error you describe, then it is a mystery. I'd try to uninstall, use the cleanup utility, reboot and reinstall.

If the test email fails, verify your email settings.

Thanks for the reply, greatly appreciated.

The settings in the backup options are for who to send the notification to which is being sent properly using the smtp command RCPT TO: (RCPT TO: user@domain.com) At issue is the smtp command MAIL FROM: (@16.0.15) which bounces back as a syntax error as it should send it as an email address...

I did the uninstall/clean up back when I tried to upgrade to 2012 and had various issues. I ended up putting this on the back burner and forgetting about it until I went in and found out the backup hasn't run again for a while. I may do the uninstall again, and try again later to get this to work, or just shell out the bucks and go back to BackupExec.

Update

After using the ATIH_CleanUp_2012.exe tool, no difference.

Also when looking at the output again, I also noticed that in the data string that it assigns a message id from myhost.com

{08/05/2012 11:49:53} [7560] [Debug] 127.0.0.1:56514|25 <- Date: Tue, 08 May 2012 11:49:53 -0400@##@Message-ID: <K9FUvgVCUdrp870ORm1nTo56tAF6pMsQuHy8nLl610Q@myhost.com>

Although relatively unimportant, why are they creating a Message-ID associated with a company that specializes in hosting and distributing protected digital media?  I found references to this contained in smtpsupp.dll in the Acronis/TrueImageHome/Common directory.
