Acronis 2013 Starts to backup DESTINATION Directory!!!!

Thread needs solution

I've tried this over and over to make sure that I wasn't imagining things. I start a brand new backup and change it to a 'full' backup. The destination is "E:\Backups\lenovo-full".

When the backup starts, I can see the files that are being backed up are the files in "E:\Backups"!!!

Please help!

The task that is running in your attached screen captures is showing the destination file "Lenovo-full-2013-02-17_full_b1_s1_v1.tib" located in "E:\Backups" as it should.

It is creating the file in the location you selected. The file name (Lenovo-full) shown, also contains the @Date@ (2013-02-17) string, and the Acronis 2013 additional naming conventions as designed (_full_b1_s1_v1) appended to the file name.

This all looks good to me.

The "Backing up:" in your last screen capture of the active task really should be something along the lines of "Backing up to:" to be more clearly stated, as it is showing the destination and the file name of the backup file.

You are not doing anything wrong, only interpreting what you are seeing incorrectly.

I can see how that last screen shot would be misleading. The file that you see there is a past attempt at backing up which proves my point. Its trying to backup files that are in my E:\Backups directory which is my destination directory.

I have used Acronis since 2009 and I have used this version in the past with no issues. Just last night I saw this strange behavior. I'm not sure if its because it was updated or because I've changed my backup drive.

To reiterate, the file that you are seeing being backed up is a previous backup file.

Thanks for the reply.

I've restarted the backup. I think you are correct. I was reading the screen incorrectly.

Thanks.
