Acronis 2014, can not access network shares for backup, keeps prompting for credentials.

I am trying to backup to a network share on a Windows 2012 server. I am booting from a USB drive with Acronis 2014 (latest build). I can see the server, login to it, get a list of the network share but as soon as I click on one it asks for the user name and password again. I put in the same credentials I used to access the server in first place to get a list of the shares but I am unable to access the shares. I have rights to the shares using the same credentials when I am in Windows.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

I assume this server is a DC or member of a domain?

The client would act as a "workgroup" PC if booted from USB or boot CD.

Since you are able to see the share, you shouldn't need to specify the servers IP or FQDN to access the share, but you may need to specify the host name or domain name in conjunction with the user name to connect.

You might try editing the localhost file by adding your NAS to the list of known connections. That should allow the use of the NAS name instead of the IP address in True Image as destination. Since DNS should then recognize the NAS as a local machine which should in turn only require 1 login per network session.

To edit the localhost file simply use Windows search for localhost. Right click and open with Notepad. Add NAS name followed by a space followed by IP address of your NAS. Example: QNAP 192.168.X.XXX.

After the edit save the file.

Once finished shutdown and restart your machine for change to take effect.

Try using True Image 2011 rescue media. This worked for me when I tried to access a Windows 10 share. With True Image 2014 rescue media I made the same experience as you: the credentials were not accepted. Obviously a buggy rescue media with respect to Windows shares.
