Acronis 2015 difficulties

Thread needs solution

Have used Acronis True Image for some time and currently have 2015 (full version) installed. Also using Windows 7 Pro on a 64 bit machine.

Lately I have had difficulty getting it to do what I prefer. That is I want to make Backup ONLY when I want them, not on any schedule, not when the machine is started or shut down.

When I shut down or do a restart. I frequently get the warning “The action can’t be completed because the folder is open in True Image Home Service”

I have set the options to do NO scheduled back.

Also have “unchecked” all choices from within “Advanced Settings” and saved my choice. Do these need to be saved? If I reenter Advanced Settings choices I have unselected are selected again.

If I attempt to “remove” a folder/file from within Acronis the folder may reappear at a later time.

Much material is omitted or impossible to fine in the manual which is poorly indexed.

I hope someone there will find it worth while answering these and other questions I have been having. It may be time for me to look for a different application.

The requested procedure to use bcedit /set would not work correctly on the computer and did not fix the underlying issue which was Acronis TI 2015. I did expect it to have less issues that TI 2014, but I was evidently wrong in my assumptions.

I did manage to find a program that would allow me to delete the multiple drives that Acronis software caused the to be placed in the BIOS (no, I don't know how either) and that led to my computer starting up normally and did not, and I repeat, did not cause the additional partition to appear on the C drive or cause the other drive letters to go and show as "ghost drives" in my computer. I was told that it "was normal" by the manager who made the call back despite the fact that I showed him screen shots of two different computer c drives running the same win 7 software, same BIOS, same SSD memory for the c drive and Seagate HDDs as secondary drives but the computer that had the "fix" applied to it had an additional partition visible in the C drive causing issues with the entire file system. All of this despite the fact that the original issue, TI2015 was still buggy and had major problems in doing what it was supposed to do. It should have never been released in it's current form.

Due to the issues I have run into with Acronis, I have decided to discontinue it's use as soon as a replacement can be installed on my computers and I would never recommend it to anyone. Although I extended courtesy and maintained my composure dealing with your Technical Support personnel, they have consistently FAILED TO LISTEN TO WHAT I WAS SAYING and incorrectly telling me the problem was not with their software but with my computer, Windows or the BIOS company. Telling ME to google an issue is NOT AN ACCEPTABLE FORM OF TROUBLESHOOTING BY A COMPANY when it is their software that created the issue. Having a program launch itself that results in many GB's being used to create backups or to delete an existing backup that I DID NOT WANT OR REQUEST is unacceptable. Having a function of choosing a "default setting" and the program ignoring it is just plain irresponsible.

I can say, with just a bit of reservation, that Amit went beyond what I would have expected in the amount of time and time periods that he put forth. He does deserve credit for that. He did his best to figure out what was happening and referred the issue to his manager who, in typical Acrnois tech support behavior, stated it was "not their problem".

Now that TI 2015 is no longer on my computer, I do not have any more issues at this time. For me to spend three and a half hours or so on the phone over several days was, to say the least, very time consuming for me (I wasn't being paid or compensated in ANYWAY, interfered with my life, my schedule and even when I could eat my meals. I would not install another program from them even if it were totally free and turned lead into gold due to all I have been put through.

I did, however, take the manager's suggestion of googling but I googled BEST DRIVE IMAGING SOFTWARE and not issues that Acronis could not identify or repair. I recommend this to anyone looking for an imaging program as there are many choices to choose from.

Suddenly my Acronis True Image 2015 has stopped working.

I receive a critical failure error window explaining the software has stopped working.

In the background, there is a Acronis window asking me to submit an explanation of the problem, however I cannot access the dialog box as it soon disappears.

This is a sudden event.

Thank you,

David

Build 6525 Have been unable to backup my main drive.
When the backup is first started, it seems to hang at 262MB
Letting it do its thing, upon return one window says can't open data stream
another window in front of previous said can't find version 1.

It seems that TI2015 can't remember where it saves its own files.
