Acronis 2015 Stalls during Backup
I have Acronis Build 6525. I have been an Acronis user for years with great success. Now we get to Version 2015. The first 30 days I had no problem in creating Full back ups. Now I get to Day 32 and the Full Back Up gets to around 355 MB backed up and stalls. It does not update the progress or show a time to complete. Not only can I not do a back up, but I must pay for support! I can not find anything about this on the forums or the FAQ's. My first thought was the external hard drive is a 4 TB and that was my problem, so I went back to the 1 TB drive that I used with Acronis 2014 and the first 30 days of Acronis 2015. No difference. I sent feedback last week, no answer. At this point, I would either like to get this working or get a refund and walk away from Acronis. How does a company charge for support after 30 days? I am using a Windows 8.1 computer that has worked great with Acronis until Day 32 of version 2015.

Stephen, thank you, I will try the repair. I did a complete uninstall from the Acronis Web-Site and a fresh re-install but no difference. My greatest fear is that the backup will be corrupt and useless when I need it the most. I have been with Acronis about 10 years also and had good luck in the past with installing new hard drives and putting the backup on them. I am upset that this is happening and by the other comments we are not the only ones.

Don't forget, many users of the product perform their backups and restores when booted from the user created Recovery CD, thus Windows not involved in either the backup or recovery. When restoring the system, performing the restore when booted from the CD is the recommended procedure.
A cleanup utility exists to remove all traces of the current or prior product which can also help problem installs.

I have been a very happy (until now) user of Acronis products since 2010 (five (5) years now). This is the first time I have had an issue, a rather severe one, with Acronis. I had been happily running Acronis True Image 2014 Premium for some time. When 2015 was released, I purchased it straightaway, even though I usually to purchase a new edition of a product. I did not see the need to wait with Acronis. With 2014, a full backup of my C: (system/boot) drive took two (2) to three (3) hours, with a content of approximately 100GB. My "data" drive (where I store spreadsheets, word documents, music, video, etc) took about two (2) to three (3) hours to back up (approximately 250GB of "data"). Five (5) days before the 30 day support/refund deadline expired, backups, with 2015, took over 24 hours (2015 backups have been taking 24+ hours almost since backup #1). Contacting support, I frequently got the answer that the problem was being escalated. In the last two weeks, there was virtually no response from support. It finally took a threat by me (which I would carry out) to report this situation to a local (to where I live) Department Of Consumer Affairs, to get Acronis to agree to refund my purchase price of 2015, plus cost of repairs, if the need to take the PC to a professional shop would arise. After a complete uninstall of 2015, I tried to go back to 2014, and I received the same results (backups that normally take 2 - 3 hours now taking 24+ hours and not always coming to a successful conclusion). I was sorely disappointed. It is apparent that 2015 did something during the install/running process which rendered 2014 unusable. I have been without a valid backup for almost three months, a very dangerous situation considering the fact that my laptop PC is 4 years old, and the internal (C:) hard drive is beginning to show signs of age. Any suggestions from fellow Acronis users are most welcome.

Good Morning Grover. Please see my recent posting. I tried cleanups and the problem I have still exists. All Acronis products are now uninstalled from my laptop and all Acronis files and references thereto are also deleted. All I want is to get a true image backup of my drives in case I have to replace them (which I know I will have to one day soon). Any help you can provide is very appreciated. Thank you.

I notice this on the WinPE disk I created as well when creating an image and restoring an image. It appears to just hang for a few minutes then boom it's done.
It also appears to be at the end of what ever it's doing as well.
I'm running the latest version as I just picked up 2015 this weekend.

Howard,,
Which version of TrueImage do you have on your TI Recovery CD?
Have you tried to perform the backup when booted from the user created TI Recovery CD? It usually works where all else may fail.
Click on my signature link #1 and once there, browse to the link #3-BB.
The 3-BB is not specific to your version but it should show you enough for you to create a validated backup.
The 3-BB is a pdf which needs to be saved to your disk.
Christopher,
Also, at the very beginning of your WinPE boot process, you may have to press the space bar to get the WinPE to start it extended boot process.
The WinPE normal boot menu behavior may take up to 5-7 minutes to boot with nothing appearing to happen (blank screen) until the boot is completed and the TI Menu program appears.
Which version of TrueImage did you have installed before 2015? Did you install overtop of another installation or did you do an uninstall first?

GroverH, I used the 2015 Cleanup and actually cleaned up all of the Acronis Installs on my Windows 8.1 machine. Then, I did a fresh download and install. Just like before, it zooms up to 361.8 MB and then sits there waiting to calculate the time to backup and doing nothing else. Is this just SOP for the new Acronis? Any help would be appreciated since you do not charge for your services, but Acronis should be paying you.
Thank you.

When it seems to stall, let it run until it either finishes or you get an error message.
Note any message on the screen as to what it might be doing. The last function will be the validation and this could take some time--especially if it validating several backups.
Hopefully, you will not get an error message but if you do, then I would check each partition (even the non-lettered partitions) for disk errors.

Surely, many users are not programmers or other types of tech people. This applies to me, at least. I can't use a program that doesn't operate as claimed, or which operates properly only intermittently. There are only so many diagnostics we non-tech users might know how to do. Why should I run scripts, use settings that don't do what I want done, etc.? Acronis 2015 Help is not usually helpful for my problems. I'm not surprised that many posters on this forum are ready to give up and switch to some other program (which can't be guaranteed to work any better).
