Acronis 2015 starts, but exits when asked to do anything

Thread needs solution

This problem started when I re-installed the program having done a clean re-install of Windows 10. I have tried removing and re-installing Acronis several times, but it still comes up on screen and just drops out when instucted to do anything. This is using the 1809 version of Windows, and all is well on my other two computers using the same version. (I have the x3 license). Has anyone else come across this problem?

Steve, welcome to these public User Forums.

Did you install ATI 2015 using an Administrator account and are you running it from the same?

HI, Steve. Thanks for your reply. Yes I did eventually install as admin, and also ran it 'as administrator'. It still dropped out when I asked it to start a new backup. Incidentally, I don't remember invoking admin rights on my other computers, or this one before the clean Windows install.

Steve.

Steve, is your 'new backup' actually a new backup task or just another backup for an existing task?

If the latter, then can you try creating a new backup task and see if that runs?

it drops out if I click on "add a new backup". The old backups I have are listed, but I cannot get it to add to my current backup (the backup button does not appear). I have overcome this problem previously by reconfiguring the backup, but this time when I try that it does the vanishing act again and just drops off the screen and out of memory.

Steve, did you restore the Acronis folders in the C:\ProgramData\Acronis path after installing ATI 2015 on your clean install of Windows 10?

If you did, then I am tempted to suggest making a full clean install of ATI 2015 without bringing anything forward from an older install.

Hi, Steve. Thanks for taking the time to help me with this problem. I had a go with latest suggestion; I uninstalled ATI 2015 again, then checked there was no entry in program data, cleaned the registry with Norton (just in case there were any bits hanging out there), re-started the computer and re-installed ATI as an administrator. No change, though. Incidentally the Win10 re-installation was completely clean, using another hard drive, so I don't think it can be any hang-over from the old installation. That one did actually work. The problems I was endeavouring solve existed in Windows files, not Acronis.
