Acronis after formating disk, recovery - blank inside

Thread needs solution

I got real problem, my friend went to USA and leaved me with mission to reinstall his system.
Everything would be ok but ...........

He has Acronis True Image Echo Server some time ago he created backup. I was reinstalling his computer and something went wrong, hes USB external drive went unaccessible. I did format it and restored whole content with Get Data Back.

Whole content seems to be ok, 78gb tar.gz linux backup, 200gb of hes hdefinition video from his travels everything just is ok but acronis tib file 40gb not so so... it went recovered without errors and acronis seems to open it properly BUT the content is empty, no files at all. just image>c partition>empty no files.

So my question is that is there any possible way i could access any files on this backup ?, i need for him about 100mb of photos to be recovered, only please guide me thx.

ps. image hade compression at maximum.

Mounting is going well and at the end i get:
Cannot assign a drive letter to a partition backup archive??

Doesn't sound like it. It sounds like the drive was bad to begin with, enough so that you reformatted it. "Get DAta BAck" could at best return you to the dameged condition the disk was in before you reformatted.

Yes, it sounds like it was bad before and bad now.

It's possible that the hdisk is okay and ATI couldn't backup properly onto it. The first test for that wouldhave been to validate the file immediately after backing up.

It was ok and i was able to recover it, not after external hdd went bad. Is there a way to extract any data from tib now?, R-studio meaby ?
