Acronis asks for a password when I haven't created one for archive

Thread needs solution

I'm getting very frustrated here. When I do a back up of my server using Acronis True Image for Server Windows, I don't set a password for the archive (because I'll forget it). When I attempt to access the archive after the successful backup, it prompts me to enter a password. Leaving the field blank doesn't work, and neither does trying all my old stand by's I haven't set a pw, so why is is asking me to enter one? Any information would be helpful, this is occurring on both Windows Server 2003 and 2008.
Thank you!

Hello Emily,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help. Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

There can be several reason of the encountered issue.

1) Have you validated the archives? If not, please do it.

The password requirement may be caused by archive corruption. If the program identifies the archives as corrupted, please follow the steps described in this article for troubleshooting.

2) We have had several similar issues with the first builds of Acronis True Image Echo, they have been addressed in the latest build of the program.

Please make sure that you are using the latest build of the program # 8398. You can find out the build number by selecting "Help" option, "About".
You can learn more on how to download the latest build here. Update the program, it is generally a good idea to be up to date anyway.
3) If the backup archive is located at network share, you should specify the credentials to get the access to the share. The user name should be specified in the form of SERVER\USER or DOMAIN\USER.
4) If you tried to restore the archive under Acronis Bootable Media, I suggest you to try ISOLINUX Bootable Media.
There are two types of Acronis Bootable Media:
- Acronis Bootable Media that you can generate in your Acronis product. This type of media is based on Acronis Loader;
- Acronis Bootable Media that you can download from your account on the Acronis website. This type of media is based on ISOLINUX.
ISOLINUX Bootable Media is usually more up to date than the Acronis Loader one. This is due to the fact a new version of Acronis Bootable Media is uploaded to the website more frequently than regular product updates are released.
You can find the information on how to download the appropriate ISOLINUX file in this article. Please see this article on how to burn an ISO file to a CD disk.
If the issue still persists, could you please let us know the following?
Could you please clarify where the backup archive is placed (whether it's on internal, external, or network hard drive)? Do you try to restore from within Windows or under Acronis Bootable Media?
We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience. If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other question do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.

Thank you.
