Acronis Backups disappear from Backup Window

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I Use Acronis 2015 to back up my personal folders to two external hard drives; one in the morning, the other in the evening. With both backups, I have opted for the differential option - Full, followed by 25 differential backups.

On a number occasions, I have noticed, that when I open the Acronis Window, to view the status of my backups, both my backups have disappeared, and that there is a Red circle in the bottom right hand corner of the Backup icon (See attachment).

When this has happened, I find that I cannot restore my backups, using "Add Existing Backup". When I try this by navigating to the Backup, the option is there to "Add", but on clicking this, nothing happens, except Acronis returns to the Backup page!

I have given up on trying to restore "Add Existing Backup"! The only way is to re-create the plans, but this results in the program creating a new Full, backup; not continuing with the next differential.

Has anyone else experienced, this, and if so, do you know what is happening.

2015 has proved so unreliable as a data backup program!

Hopelfully, you have both backup schemes set for automatic cleanup as per this example GH13. Using automatic cleanup, means the program will do the deletion of old chains based on your retention quota and avoid the problems of manual deletion.

GH13. Create Custom Differential Backup Scheme w/auto cleanup. ...Keep Full plus 2 Diff per chain. Store/Keep 2 chains. Use whatever number best fits your needs.

Whatever external disk that is attached will be the only task where the backups will be viewable. You can right click on this task (with storage disk attached) and access your storage folder via the "open location" edit option. You should be able to have both F & G attached at the same time and see all your files.

Hopefully, your letters F & G are permanently assigned via Windows Disk Management so the letters do not fluctuate.

I would encourage you to make more frequent full backups or add additional task which would do that.

Hi GoverH,

Thank you for your advice, but it is not my backups, which are disappearing; they retain intact on my external hard drives!

What is happening is that the "Plans" are disappearing from the "Acronis Backup Window" and hence there is nothing for me to Edit, and the Window will not let me "Add Existing Backup"

Yes, I have automatic cleanup on, set to remove old plans, after two days!

I have also tried breaking both my plans into several smaller plans, but find that this means Acronis is backing up, most of the time, my PC is in, with no advantage - I have never lost anything using two plans, of large size!
