Acronis Boot GUI never comes (stucked at "Starting Boot Loader...")

Thread needs solution

Been using Acronis 2009 for some time now, having no problems with it at all.

Then one day I had a crash after installing a new Nvidia-driver, and from that moment I havent been able to go further than "Starting Boot Loader..." during Acronis boot, which makes system restore impossible with Acronis. Everything else works though.

About the boot media: 1) The same CD boots on other machines 2) Have tried booting from usb (that boots on other machines) with no luck.

I have now upgraded to 2010, and the problem is still there.

Googling helped me find a thread from 2006 explaining the very same problem. Its just that this thread never understands/solves the problem, but simply find a workaround using BartPE, that I don't see possible with Acronis True Home Image 2010 (correct me if I'm wrong).

Any idea any one?

Hello Anders,

I will do everything possible in order to resolve the issue you experience with Acronis bootable media.

The issue concerns lack of drivers under Linux. Please download ISO image based on ISOLinux from your account under Registered Products and create Acronis bootable disc using third-party software. ISOLINUX Bootable Media is usually more up to date than the Acronis Loader one. This is due to the fact a new version of Acronis Bootable Media is uploaded to the website more frequently than regular product updates are released.

ISOLINUX Bootable Media has several boot parameters that may help overcome possible issues with booting. You can also set a specific VGA resolution in the ISOLINUX media if there an issue with the Graphical User Interface (GUI). Check the following KB article for more details.

You can download the BartPE plug-in and Safe version from your account at the official Acronis Web-site:

  • Go to http://www.acronis.com/my/
  • Log in;
  • Register the serial number for your copy of Acronis True Image (if it is not registered yet);
  • Click Registered Products;
  • Under the registered product click on Free Plugins to download the components.

Check the following Kb article for instructions on how to create BartPE bootable disc.

Let us know if the issue persists.
