Acronis is creating folders on external USB drives

Thread needs solution

I need some help in figuring out how to stop Acronis from creating a folder structure on my External USB drives. In the past I did instruct Acronis to create backups to folders but I have moved away from this design for sometime now.  I cannot loacte where in Acronis to remove this instruction.

I would appreciate andy and all advise.

Regards,

Gary

Gary, welcome to these user forums.

The behaviour you describe is normally caused by having deleted backup files using Windows Explorer which in turn causes the Acronis Database information to be out of sync with your backup tasks and backup files.

To correct this problem, you can first try running a Validation for each of your backup tasks and see if this helps correct the database information - this will probably pop-up error messages for each deleted file that is found.

If the validation doesn't resolve the issue, then I would recommend forcing Acronis to rebuild the database files by taking the following steps.

  1. Stop all Acronis Services and Processes starting with stopping the services first, then ending all programs.
  2. In Explorer, navigate to C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\ and then either rename the Database folder to Database.OLD or delete the folder.
  3. Restart the main Acronis True Image application which will restart all the services / processes and create a new database folder and files.

Note: You will lose all you backup task history by doing the above but the last backup date/time from your backup files and history will be restarted when you run your tasks.
