Acronis Destoyed Drive Partition Causing the Loss of All Data

Thread needs solution

I installed the software, tried to run a backup, didn't work. Running through the wizard trying to create a "safe zone" automatically rebooted my computer and began to resize the partition. This failed misuarblely, earased the entire partition including the boot sector. So basically I just payed for software that earases everything on your harddrive and leaves you with a nice black screen saying no OS found. The icing on the cake is that Acronis want's me to pay for a technical support package so I can tell them how much their software ****.

The manual probably needs to be read at least twice before everything makes sense.

The Safe Zone will rewrite the MBR so as to add the hidden partition.

However, you might not have at that time lost everything, it is possible the MBR just needed to be reset.

What version of TI were you trying?

Have you now reformatted the drive or are you still hoping to retrieve it?

If you were trying to create an SZ for imaging purposes, you are really better off using an external drive.

What OS are you using and what type of disk format do you have?

Hello Chris,

Thank you for using Acronis Products

In order to solve the issue please repair the MBR (Master Boot Record) of the hard disk. Boot from Installation Disc (CD) into Recovery Console and run "fixmbr" command.

If you experience problems using the above solution, then please download special Acronis utility here. Use it to create a floppy and boot the machine from the floppy.

If you prefer to a fix MBR using a CD, then please download special Acronis utility here. Use it to create a CD and boot the machine from the CD.

The MBR will be rewritten once you boot the computer from the created media and confirm that you want to fix the MBR.
