Acronis does not complete installation

A friend of mine also bought Acronis True Image 2015 on my advise but when I try to install Acronis I have a problem. Downloading the software completes - the installation process starts and gets to +- 90-95% then the system "hangs" - no further activities, not even from Windows (also can't use ALT CTRL DEL to get to the Task Manager). The only way out is to force a computer shutdown.
All prerequisites are OK - Windows 7 SP1, 4GB memory and plenty disk space available.
No feedback or error reporting - the computer simply goes into never-never land.
Help please?
