Acronis does not recognize the recent archives for recovery

Thread needs solution

Hello

my pc crashed tonight (no clue why) and I couldn't get at all anymore into Windows. so I decided to recover the data via the image that I do weekly (the last time yesterday) but when I selected the archive it says that the file is not valid or is not supported (0x400001).Further the message says that the file cannot be opened (0x400002). And futheron it says that the file is damaged (0x4000D).

I don't understand that at all as I know that the task for the image worked perfectly yesterday (it showed also "successful" when the task was done) so the archive should be absolutely ok. I also didn't make any other changes like updates or whatever the last months. Interesting to mention also that all other archives that were done the last few weeks (data-archives) are not working as well. I get the some message.

Does someone has any idea?

Thanks in advance.

Andreas

A common cause of invalid files is trying to read them with the TI rescue CD that was made with an earlier version and it doesn't understand the archive file format.

Since your Windows is broken, I'm assuming you are using the rescue CD - was it made with the version or newer that created the archive. Note this is the version like TI9, 10, 11, 2009, 2010, not the build number within the version. (Although TI9 did have a fromat change in mid-version.)

thanks, that was indeed the reason. I donwloaded the newest verson of TI as trial and then it worked! Thanks!
