Acronis doesn't verify if a full backup is required for a version chain

Thread needs solution

I setup a custom backup scheme (basically a version chain with a weekly full), but only store 20 days of backups.

Since this is on a laptop that I don't use daily (mostly for travel), it doesn't run backups all of the time.

When I went to run it, it couldn't complete the backup because the full backup was deleted (older than 20 days).

You should have the software verify if the full is required for a version chain before the housecleaning, in case situations like this arise.

Dig a little deeper. Something else is wrong. The log may show more. The program will make a new backup first before deleting the outdated backup so your situation should not have occurred.

YOu should consider stopping the use of your current task and create a new task with different retention parameters.
Here is one example to consider. You set the parameter on how many backup chains you want to keep so the retention is based on your figure of how many to keep and not on elapsed days.
