Acronis Email Notification never sends for backups yet test message and validating it does!

Thread needs solution

Been looking at someones SOHO network and they had Acronis on their main computer. Wasn't properly setup with "backup locations" and etc so I've been sorting it out. now got it backing up to one external and one internal on a daily basis. My main problem is the email notification. When I first saw this I thought it was an amazing feature. I entered the smtp details and etc in the "task setup" window and I got the test message.
When the incremental backup task is scheduled or ran manually: no email!

To get the validate backup tasks to send email notifications I had to enter the same SMTP and etc details into the default notification settings. Now when validate task is scheduled I get an email. So I went into both incremental backup tasks and deleted all the "email notification" settings (hoping it would then use the default ones). Still no email notification!

Anything I googled for just came up with hits saying "Acronis test message doesn't work", so I thought I'd ask you guys for help.
Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dan Gent

Hello Daniel,

Please accept our apologies for the difficulties you've experienced.

I'll surely help you to resolve the issue, but first of all could you please let me know the version of Acronis software you use and its build number? You can fin the build number in Help -> About section (it should be 4 digits).

Additionally I may recommend you to have a look at this KB article to find some workarounds for the common issues with e-mail notifications.

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

Hi, the build number of this version of Acronis is 8101
The full version is 11.0.0.8101
I hope that means something to you :^)

Thanks,
Dan Gent

Hello Daniel,

Thank you for the clarifications!

Have you followed the instructions described in this KB article? What are the results?

If this does not help, I may recommend you to check the trial version for Acronis True Image Home 2010, it has some enhancements in e-mail notifications mechanism.

The functional limitation of Acronis True Image trial version is that you can only use a software for 15 days. Windows version is fully functional  and it does not have any more limitations.
Bootable CD from trial version can be used for recovery only.

If none of the solutions help, please collect Windows System Information File, screen shots of all the E-mail settings and a PCAP log (see Collecting PCAP Logs).

Then submit a request for technical support. Attach all the collected files and information to your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the issue appears and the link to this thread. Then please provide me with the case number you receive from our system, so I can pick it up and speed up the process. We will do our best to investigate the problem and provide you with a solution.

Thank you.

I'm also sitting here with Acronis True Home edition same version referenced above (11.0.0.8101). I decided to give it another go after several years and noticing that you had released a number of updates. Now I've registered and downloaded your "updated" version which seems to exhibit the same problem. My primary purpose for purchasing it in the first place was to have offsite confirmation that my system is adequately backed up. I'd be happy to consider a new version later, given confidence that what I've already paid for is functional, but that ball is in your court.

I'm using "gmail" as my smtp server and it works fine with my Outlook application. I have read http://kb.acronis.com/content/1531 and even reluctantly disabled my firewall protection. A test message won't even work. I've tried a number of combinations in addition to what you oulined in the KB. Please advise if there's been a fix to this product.

Thank you,

Mark
