Acronis fails 90+% of the time backing up to a NAS

Thread needs solution

This product is basically useless to me. What a waste of money. It destroys my CPU and I typically have to reboot after "trying" to use it.

I get useful errors like
- "Error occurred while opening the file."
- "Cannot perform this operation in quiet mode. (0x103F1) Tag = 0x1D8EAB676A3F6A11 Error occurred while reading the file. (0x40001) Tag = 0x1D8EAB676A3F6A12"
- "Failed to back up file or folder 'Microsoft Outlook:\Profiles\Outlook\B61C3063F9EB7643A029AB06EFF334D8'.
Microsoft Outlook:\Profiles\Outlook\B61C3063F9EB7643A029AB06EFF334D8: None"
- "Operation has completed with errors."
- "Failed to prepare data stream. Check whether the source and target partitions exist."
- "Reattempting the operation. Error: Error occurred while opening the file."

There are too many issues to resolve with this POS software.

Two questions:
1. Is it too late to get my money back?
2. Does any recommend a better backup solution than this unusable POS?

Thanks

When using ATI with a network drive, use a UNC path to your NAS device for a backup destination, not a typical friendly "mapped" drive.
e.g.
\\192.168.2.25\My Backups\

I believe it may also be possible to use a UNC path that includes server name rather than IP, such as
\\server1\My Backups\

Are you connecting via WiFi? Try it using a wired Ethernet connection, at least to test it. See if that works better.

Mcab,

What type of file and folder backup are you making?

Which version of Outlook are you using?

Has Outlook been opened prior to the backup? It is worth trying the backup without starting Outlook at all.

Are you are able to backup to either a locally attached disk or a USB attached one? Just trying to isolate whether it is only the network share causing the problem.

Run chkdsk /r on both the drive you are imaging and the drive you are imaging to.

Delete the network share credentials out of Windows Crednetial Manager, and then remake the True Image task with the credentials when asked.

If you have Wireshark, check that the network share is not timing out or having other traffic interfering with it.
