acronis kernel panic not syncing vfs unable to mount root fs on unknown-block 1 0
I'm soo tired of this program not working as expected! For a long time I blamed it on the fact that I used mirrored drives. Even created the alternate boot disk which seemed like a lot of work from me. The customer. Now, I've even changed my configuration to just run 1 primary drive with all my OS and data and leave the secondary drive that was used in my raid config as a backup, drive that is a duplicate of my C: drive. Thought this would resolve all the issues with the recovery disk. ...WRONG!! I upgraded to 2009 version and created the recovery DVD and now It won't boot. I've had it! How can I get my money back. I don't have time to customize an application that should just fricken WORK.

I am experiencing the same problem... I have Acronis True Image v11.0 and this is the first time I have had to use this product for restore since I purchased the product. I upgraded from v10.0
I have my tib file on a usb backup hard drive...
The Acronis Loader submits this error message after reboot
acronis kernel panic not syncing vfs unable to mount root fs on
When I use the Emergency Boot CD... and install full edition... and try to restore the tib file it says that it is not supported or in may be corrupt... however, the program indicates that the file is valid after I go through a validation process.... indicating no problem...
This thread says to down load the ISO file.... from the registered products page... However.... there is only an exe that I am able to download.... Please advise?
Actually I am also quite perturb about not having access to support since your March Change... I was never informed of this change over... It is telling me that IF your support arm becomes a "Profit Center" then there must be some strong problems related to using this product. I have no problem upgrading to 2010 but, I am concerned that if my tib file will not restore using my existing program in which the tib file was made.... How can I be sure that it will restore with the 2010 version....
Getting answers and searching this forum provides little insight into issues that should be normal support answers.....
Thank you for your assistance....
To summarize:
1. What can I do to get my tib file to restore...
2. How can I download an ISO version
3. Why is a validated tib file showing up as invalid or corrupt
4. Are backups made with v11 valid with 2010
Getting these answers should not be this difficult.... and using a forum.... is not a great venue for this.... as I displays publicly faults in the system.... and it is difficult to mask ones anger when posting...... just a thought for Acronis's public (image....)... I just realized that the last line is somewhat of a pun.....

For the Full Mode version of TI 11 from the CD, have you tried the quiet acpi=off noapic option detailed in Section II of the Read Before You Post thread? It may help. Other options include trying the Safe Mode version (TI won't see your USB drive if it's not supported directly by the BIOS) and creating a TI 2010 trial CD and see if it properly supports the computer's hardware.
TI 2010 shouldn't have problems with TI 11 images. Many users have restored older images. I would recommend that you validate the image with TI 2010 prior to trying a restore.
The ISO download seems to only be available for current versions of the programs. You would need to submit a request to Acronis Support for the ISO. It would have been nice if they would have setup the website accounts so that the ISO files would be available for any registered version of TI, but they didn't.
When an image validates successfully, but it won't restore, there's usually something wrong with the drivers being used (the Full Mode version is Linux-based).

First of all thank you for the prompt response...
I still believe that this is not the venue to explore a solution for my problem...
All I want is the program which I purchased to function with minimal problems... this is not the case...
the your response your reference was for 2009 and yes I went through all of the these before posting, Since I have the back up on an external USB Hard drive the safe mode was not much value.... I did however transfer the tib file to the existing hard drive in an attempt to use that function... to no avail
When I do get to the point where it asks me to restore I click on the already validated as O.K. tib file.... and low and behold.... I receive this message from the program....
"The selected file is not an Acronis True Image Home Archive or the file is corrupted please select another file"
This is very interesting because I verified this file in the program and it says "Good on you Mate it has been a success" those are my words not the programs but I think you get the message...
When I go through all of the suggestions to actually try to restore I get this message...
Now what suggestions can you provide me, Mate....

In my experience, when TI instantly reports that the image file is corrupt and it validates successfully in Windows, it's because it's having a problem reading from the drive. Most likely, a BartPE or WinPE-based TI CD would see it correctly.
What formatting is the USB drive (FAT32 or NTFS)?
What formatting is the internal drive to which you copied the image (when trying the Safe Mode version)?
I assume you're getting the same error message using the Full Mode version to try and access the copy on the internal drive. Did the copy validate okay?
Is the image one file or is it split (multiple files)?
Whether the Safe Mode version will work with USB drives depends on the BIOS. Some newer ones seem to support them, but usually at USB 1 speeds.
Do you have access to another computer? If so, if you boot to the TI CD and try to access the image on the USB drive, do you get the same error (don't do the restore)?

Mudcrab,
Thank you for your support... I realize now you are a volunteer here I thought I was conversing with Tech Support for Acronis.. My bad...
It appears that the problem is with using the external hard drive via usb is the problem. I know I have used this system for restoration on the other computers in the network...
This restoration was to be completed on my laptop... which is a Windows XP professional... I backed up, and I was testing the viability of putting on Windows 7... unfortunately upgrading required loosing all of the programs and a clean install from Windows XP Pro to Windows 7.. to avert this I was performing an update to Vista Business and then going to upgrade to Windows 7 so that I could retain all of the settings and programs...
Vista is absolutely the worse OS I have encountered (I have it on two of my network computers... nothing but problems)... I wanted to trial run Windows 7... since I am close to purchasing a new laptop.... I am seriously thinking of going to a MAC... particularly if I have to start again from scratch....
I am going to stay with XP for now since the whole update thing is getting very time consuming...
I know have Acronis 11.0 restoring my laptop... to accomplish this I transfered the tib file to a network computer and I am restoring from that computer via the network.... bypassing the usb storage... it appears the driver configuration for the usb on my laptop was not being recognized by Acronis...
Thank you again for your assistance...
However the service side of things on Acronis appears to have taken a "Nose Dive" and it took a lot of searching to arrive at this one thread to assist me....
You can pass on my comments to your contacts at Acronis... I am now looking for other alternative for image backup...
