Acronis Loader Hangs when External Drive is plugged in

Thread needs solution

Exactly what the title says. This happens when I am trying to restore my entire disk from an earlier back up. My entire hard drive has been wiped as a result of an under warranty repair, so I'm trying to restore what I backed up earlier but the Loader screen will not go away. I've used a Bootable CD which has not worked while my hard drive containing the backup data is plugged in; I removed the External Drive just as Acronis boots but this leaves me with the recovery screen saying that an Error occurred while opening the file. So if leaving the hard drive in results in the Loader hang, but removing the drive stops any hope of recovering the backup, what am I supposed to do?

I'm using TI 2010 on an Acer Aspire 5750 laptop, intel core i3 processor, with a 640gb HDD, with the Backup Data situated on a Seagate 3TB HD.

Greetings,

Is your external drive USB 3.0? I see several Acer models. Does your particular laptop have USB 3.0 support? I know the newer ones do.

Your hardware is not likely the problem here. This issue is probably related to your Boot Media.

Are you using the latest build of your 2010 boot CD?

I recommend that you create or login to your acronis.com account. Download and register an ATI 2013 Boot CD and attempt to use it for your recovery operation. It's free. If this works, you should consider upgrading.

Yes, my external is usb 3.0 as well as a single port on my laptop. I've never had problems running usb 3.0 through that port.

I'm using an older version as my factory reset laptop currently does not have an internet connection. I'll work on rectifying that. So no it is not the latest build.

Ok, I'll also try that. I'll keep this thread updated with the progress.
Thanks for your support!
