Acronis Never Installed but listed in Task Manager

Thread needs solution

Here's an unusual situation:

I used Acronis around 2010-2012 on a different computer.  I was using Terabyte Image for DOS at that time, and tried Acronis to see if it more features.  The computer locked up when I restored, and I used Image for DOS to recover.  Forums indicated other users were having problems, so didn't pursue it further.

Back to my current computer.  I just updated from win7 to win10 and the Notification window suggested I check Task Manager to see if I didn't need some of the high usage startup applications.

I did so; Acronis TIB Monitor was enabled and had a high startup Impact.  I attempted to uninstall, but the win10 version of All Programs didn't list it, and it wasn't listed in Add/Remove Programs.  Total Uninstall 5 didn't list it, either.

Checking further, C:\Program Files(X86)\Common Files\Acronis was seen. The Acronis folder contained four folders: Tib; Tib64, TibMounter, and TibMounter64; dated 5/18/14.

It would be nice to return to win7 and see if Acronis was there, but I don't dare.  I have a win7 image file, but Microsoft changed their win10 upgrade policies to the other extreme.  I could not upgrade to win10, even though Microsoft says my computer meets all the requirements.  I assume the upgrade was not blessed by Dell for this computer. After close to an hour with Microsoft support chat, I downloaded an .iso file and they used it to upgrade.  This computer works fine, and I have the .iso file but don't know how to use it.

Is it possible to uninstall the remnants of Acronis; is it some sort of malware program with an Acronis name; or should I just disable it in Task Manager?  Another thought is to just delete the Acronis folders and files and leave the registry alone.

Suggestions?

James,

Please download and run the Acronis Cleanup Tool - link is in my signature below - this will remove all Acronis products that may be installed, including remnants of old programs.

Note: please ignore any reference to needing to remove extended capacity disks, this is a throw back to a very old product that Acronis produced but which is very unlikely you would have.
