Is Acronis Nonstop Backup an alternative to Windows System Restore?

Thread needs solution

Hi,

As you know, Windows System Restore allows has a variety of features but there's one special feature that I really like about it. That is the fact that I can right-click a file or folder in Windows Explorer and restore, copy or move a copy of a previous version of that file/folder.

I really like this feature cause it helps me in two situations:

  • I may need to restore to a previous version of some file as I haven't made a backup while I was working on it. Of course, System Restore doesn't save the files all the time but it's proven to be useful sometimes. Specially when I'm developing web apps as I simply use a text editor.
  • Sometimes I deleted a file or folder and I can just go and restore a previous version of the parent folder which contains a copy of the file I accidentally deleted. Sure, sometimes that copy is going to be a old a copy and not exactly the version I wanted but better that one than nothing.

Does Acronis Nonstop Backup replaces the Windows System Restore functionality or are 2 separate things? If so, how do they differ? If not, in what ways is Nonstop Backup better than System Restore? And can I simply disable System Restore if I'm using Nonstop Backup or I better leave it on as they complement each other? In what ways?

That's basically what I want to know.

Regards.
