Acronis NOT SAVING my "documents and setting files"
Hi,
When I make a backup of my system disk I discovered when checking the result of the backup that everything was saved EXCEPT the files contained in the "document and setting" files which is declared EMPTY !
I made a complete check of my PC with Bitdefender but no virus found.
I made other backup but the result is the same.
When I make a backup I use the "complete" option.
Windows 8.1
Please help.
Thanks,
Michel

This may help.
Your personal files are found in
c:\users\your user name\Documents or Pictures, etc

Thank you for the suggestion.
I was looking in the wrong folder ("documents and settings").
I found all my files in the c:\users\....

I am aghast! Been a faithful user of Acronis for several years on two computers. I went to recover some user files stored on the first computer in c:\users\usernamex\My Documents and found Acronis doesn't back them up. ZERO files found! That is where ALL personal data is held on this computer. I've had a crash, and no data backup!
I went to a second computer that uses Acronis (2014 True Home Premium). On this computer all my documents are stored on a second non-operating system disk drive under j:\ My Documents. It has many subfolders, and Acronis is only backing up one. Period.
I know at some point this was not the case as I have retrieved files, but it could have been under an earlier version of Acronis.
I looked at excluded files, and the only ones were the default ones. Am running another backup with those taken out but not hopeful.
Is there a problem because My Documents is the same name as a default library file? Something else? Help - Acronis is useless to me in this state.
Also, as has been posted elsewere on this forum, Acronis stopped successfully sending email notifications on July 6th. Not just for me, but many others. No response from Acronis.
I don't know what to do but abandon Acronis. If anyone can help, please let me know. All those backups, and no protection!

Correction: I found the documents. They were not in the individual username directory as in c:\users\username but in c:\users\public. Probably the way the computer was set up. Whew.
BUT I would so appreciate a comment on the Acronis software's abruptly stopping email notifications on July 6th. It is very difficult to ensure good backups without this feature. I'm guessing some sort of Windows update has destroyed this feature for all? If so, would like feedback from Acronis and what the future holds.

Pamela, sorry to hear of your potential loss of data from the computer crash and the potential problem in backing up your second system.
What versions of Acronis True Image are involved here - you have mentioned ATIH 2014 Home Premium on the second system, do you have the same on the first, plus what version of Windows OS do you have on these computers?
For computer 1, what type of backup are you trying to restore the documents from? Is this a full disk / partitions backup image, or is it a Files & Folders backup image? What do your log files show for the task that created these images if you have access to them - these can be found in C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Logs folder though this may be hidden and your view options changed to show hidden files & folders?
Do you have any older backup files you can try, in particular disk / partitions backups?
For the second computer, the default would normally be to select all sub-folders when you select the root folder, i.e. J:\My Documents - please check the logs on this system for what is shown as being included in the backup and if any error messages are shown.
