Acronis is not writing over the previous file

Thread needs solution

Running Win 7 Ultimate 64 SP1 with 16 GB ram and several HDs.  ALL Backups go to my Acronis Drive and each image backup is in its own folder.

My Acronis backup storage drive is 3TB

My OS Drive is 1.5 TB with 650 GB used

My DATA Drive is 2 TB with 1.3 TB used

My Disk Backup Options for both drives is Weekly; Wednesday and Saturday for the OS Drive and Tuesday and Sunday for the Data Drive.

Backup Scheme for both drives is ‘Single Version Scheme’ which is supposed to “create a single full backup version, and overwrites it every time”.  What I understand that to mean is that Acronis creates my first backup image, days later it creates a new image; writing over the previous image.

This is NOT occurring.  Recently I needed to recover my OS drive.  When I looked at the backup image it was 2 months old!  The log showed that the disk was full.  So, Acronis is not writing over the previous file.

That is the issue - Acronis is not writing over the previous file.

Your only choice is to start over with new backup tasks for each task which has failed.

The program does not write over the existing backup but creates an additional new backup, and if the new backup is successful, then the program will delete the oldest version. So for a time, you need enough extra space for the each backup to complete before the planned deletion occurs.

If the needed extra space is not available, the program will quit with a "disk full" message.

I would suggest you also use the email notification option so you get an email notification of the success or failure of each backup.

Likewise, the success/failure status of each backup can be found in the log file.

Your problem may also have occurred when you upgraded to 2015 which would have required new tasks to be created.
