Acronis recover CD- Does not work like it used to Acronis 11 Home

Thread needs solution

Hi,
Recently went to Windows 7 (Cleaninstall) and i need to reimage back to the original load a couple months back.

I have used Acronis many times with XP and reimaged the OS - always have a separate partition for OS and Programs

So..................

I put the Acronis Recovery CD in and when i get to restoring the OS sector by Sector --I have to select another partition to copy the existing partition to---WTF!!!

I tried all the options and it does not work like it did on XP.

I do remember trying to build a recovery disk form Windows 7 and Acronis gave me a bunch of crap saying it needed WINPE or something to build the boot disk----WTF!!!!!!!

Questions

1. Does Acronis need a special boot disk for Windows 7 (I would think not, a partition is a partition
2. If it does is there a .iso already built I can use to boot form.

Thanks

I also downloaded Windows PE files for Win 7- unzipped but it's IT level- I am pretty good but do nto have the time to decipher all this

Bob,

TIH v11 is not Windows 7 compatible, I'm surprised W7 would even let you install it.

Is the image you want to restore a W7 or XP one?

I've reread your first post, why are you wanting to restore sector by sector?

If your images contain the XP OS, then they should be recoverable, if they are W7 they might be recoverable, I am referring to the Rescue CD here.

How did you perform the upgrade from XP to W7?

Hi,
I did a full wipe of the HD and installed Win 7

True image 11 (2008) loads and operates normally for backups, the issue came from a restore

I am upgrading now to 2011

I do sector by sector because on TIH 11, doing the OS any other way was hit/miss

So for the OS partition I do sector-sector and compress normally
