Acronis Rescue Media Builder Will Not Burn Complete ISO to CD/DVD
I am using (purchased and registered) Acronis True Image Home 2011 Plus Pack (build 5519)
I have successfully used Acronis to back up my primary HDD to two external USB drives.
I have successfully created a bootable DVD that can access these backups, and while I haven't actually tested them, they show up, so I assume that they can be accessed successfully.
However, I would also like to create a complete ISO backup of my entire HDD to CD/DVD. I have gone into:
(1) Acronis Rescue Media Builder
(2) Bootable Media Type Selection
(3) ISO Image (as opposed to CD/DVD)
But... when I do this, it doesn't seem to do anything except to create another bootable CD/DVD as I have already done. The only other time that it attempts to do something is when it tells me that I don't have enough room to create it. When clearly I do, not just for the bootable CD/DVD, but as I can obviously swap out as many CD/DVDs as I want to hold the ISO?
What am I missing to create an actual Acronis ISO of my entire HDD? I would prefer to create an Acronis image.
If there is no way to do this, and I create an ISO image using the InfraRecorder, is it "just as good" and an image that Acronis will be able to read, use and recover as if I had started with the freeware program in the first place?
Thanks.

In addition to what thomasjk has stated, if you really want to create a backup direct to DVD, then start the backup procedurse and after you select what is to be backed up, you will get the screen where the backup is to be stored, there you should select the DVD device or external, etc. A much better choice is creating the backup onto an external drive or network, etc.

Ah, okay thanks to both of you. I obviously misunderstood what the software was supposed to do.

I would encourage you to actually TEST your backups if possible. A backup which has not been successfully restored is not a backup. Hard drives are dirt cheap these days. What I always do is get a duplicate hard drive to what is in my PC and then I do a bare metal restore using my Acronis boot media and backup. That allows you to test your entire backup and restore process. It also gives you a drive that is pre-loaded and ready to go should you experience a problem. I normally backup to external USB drives but then every other month or so I dig out my spare drive and do a bare metal restore.
