Acronis Scheduler 2 Service

Thread needs solution

I haven't had Acronis on my PC for some time and I just stumbled onto Acronis Scheduler 2 Service as running under System Configuration/Services. How do I get rid of this?

Nikilet,

Did you try to run the cleanup utility here http://kb.acronis.com/content/14871

It sure seems like I already ran some cleanup utility back then, but maybe not because I see you can't just run the file. You have to open command window. What a deal! Seems everything about this program is complicated. Besides, I'm pretty sure (not positive) I had Acronis True Image Home 2010. I opened Services and disabled Acronis Scheduler2 and maybe I'd better just leave well enough alone before I end up with something good and messed up. Boy! This program sure spread itself through the system; kinda' like Norton or something. Then didn't even work for me when I needed it.

Too bad for you that it didn't work--I have found ATIH2010 to be a "keeper" i.e. it does everything I need trouble-free.

Not quite as bad as Norton! Not sure about the Scheduler, but yes at least the snapshot manager (snapman.sys) operates as a very low-level "filter" so a Registry entry is needed. Not exactly sure about timounter and tdrpman.sys (Try/Decide) but all this stuff needs to function deep inside your PC in order to work its magic (i.e. making a backup of a hard drive *while you are using it* for example).

I think the instructions for the Cleanup tool include tips about checking certain Registry locations, but I'll grant you that wading-thru Acronis' KB articles can be very tricky indeed!

I trust that this scheduler won't interfere with another backup program as long as I disabled it in Services.

No risk with Scheduler2. The risk is more with low-level drivers that might left there. If you install a new backup/imaging software, try to do a backup before the installation.
