Acronis Shows "Task Failed! But The Backups Seem OK!

Thread needs solution

I have Acronis True Image Home 2010 doing daily backups. On my backup harddrive the backups seem ok and in the task management the latest operation says it has been completed. However, in the calandar the past days, meaning the backup failed - there's not a single green square there.

My question is: has the backups failed or why is the calandar showing red?

Thank you.

Ok, so it seems to work. I recovered a few files and where OK. I also saw that Acronis gave the "Operation Successful" (or similar) after doing the daily backup, just a few minutes ago.

I stilll wonder why the calendar show all red (except for future dates).

Any ideas? Is it a bug maybe?

True Image is just full of "oddities" which is why it is so important to do an actual restore.
What build number of 2010 are you using?

Did you look at the log messages? There must be a few messages with red X icon next to it.
As well, try validating your backup. You can do that by right-clicking on the backup file, go to the menu Archive-Validate.

As for the calendar showing red, maybe this will help.

Let's assume that you start a backup and then cancel it. Or, you have a failure of a backup.

Later, you run a successful backup on the same day. The calendar will show red until you delete the log files for both the cancel and the failed. After the log removal, the calendar will show green because the bad ones have been removed from that day. Any failure or stoppage on a given day will cause the calendar to show red.

I would boot from the TI Rescue CD and validate the questionable backup from the CD. When restoring your system partition, Acronis recommends that it be done when booted from the CD so it is validation by the CD which has the most importance.

There's an error at every backup, it says "No such script '4860FDEC..etc" I can't find the error code in the Acronis knowledge base so I don't know what could be wrong..?

I just validated a backup and that looked OK.

The TI Recovery CD is the CD created using TI or the CD created from the ISO file available to download from your Acronis account.

For the script problem, this KB article may help: Acronis True Image Shows "No Such Script" in Operation Log

Hello all,

DwnNDrty, GroverH and MudCrab: thank you very much for your assistance.

Johan, let me help you with the issue. If you have the mentioned errors (No such script '4860FDEC..) in the log file, most likely the reason of the problem is the malfunction of Acronis Scheduler.

To get rid of the error you need to delete all tasks manually the following way:

  1. Download the http://www.acronis.com/files/support/schedmgr.exe file ;
  2. Start the Command Prompt from Start -> Programs -> Accessories menu;
  3. Run the following commands in the folder you saved the file to:
  4. schedmgr task zap

  5. Delete all files (if they're exists) in the following folder:
  6. Windows XP: Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts

    Windows Vista/7: Program Data\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts

    After that please back up again and check if the issue still persists.

    Please reply to this thread if you have any further questions.

    Thank you.
