acronis sometimes won't start
Hi
I used acronis true image home 2012 before in this computer and it was working ok (I'm using windows 7 pro 64 bits).
I try to open acronis yesterday and it didn't open...today I tried again and it opened and I was able to validate a file....I closed it and now again it won't open anymore...
I tried uninstalling and re installing...I also tried at system configuration selecting "normal start up" to load all drivers and services...
Thanks
Michel

Hi Colin,
I tried ATIH2012_6131_en-US (is the installer I have) and I also tried to update to the latest file...with same results...
I don't have any task schedules but it looks like the TIH is on the task manager...Also if I try the repair option it would tell me to close TIH and retry
I checked the firewall and is allowed...
I didn't updated win7...
Sometimes if I use the ATIH_CleanUp_2012 to uninstall and then re install it works right afterjust once...then back again to just idle when i click and nothing happens...
Also I notice that sometimes when I reinstall it the icon is showing as a generic windows icon(not the TIH icon)
Thanks

Do you use the nonstop backup, or sync features? If you don't, you can disable the services for those features in Windows. I have had problems with the Acronis Nonstop Backup Service and starting up the main GUI of Acronis TIH 2012, and disabling those services worked on my system to correct the problem. I don't use these feature, so I didn't need the services running anyway.

Right click the program shortcut and look at the security tab. Make sure all users have full control.

Hi James,
Is good to know that...I don't really use those neither...but I already paid for a tech support per incident...they are analyzing my files...let you all know how they fix it...and if not I'll try what you mentioned
Thanks

As you are not the only person having this issue, posting the soultion provided by Acronis,(if supplied) would be a great help.

I am also have the problem on one of my systems. Did work well with slow startup then at some point the primary GUI would crash on startup. The non-stop backup is (was) still running and the scheduled backups would execute but not the GUI. I have uninstalled, updated and multiple things but nothing works.
I noticed the program is actually starting then crashing. With my normal ID (an admin id) i see nothing but the brief task in the task monitor allong with the WerFault.exe (which captures the crash info)
If I launch from the admin ID I can capture the following. I appears the crash is in the attempt to execute the temp copy of the DLL the launcher creates in the users local temp folder. Each attemped execution creates a new copy of the DLL.
Problem signature:

Dennis,
Try emptying your temp folder and see if that makes any difference, then run a repair install of TIH.
