Acronis startup recovery manager-has disabled my Windows MBR I have Windows 7 and Windows 8

Thread needs solution

Hi folks My first post I have Windows 7 Home and Windows 8 on separate partitions I installed Acronis 2013 full yesterday I enabled Acronis startup manager When I later restarted the messaqe about pressing F 11 did not appear and I got this message "error: no such device: 58be4d15-43c1-4d48-ba22-81a3412dbc 0f . grub rescue>" I suspect this is a Linex code Fortunately I had done a backup and Recovered it but still got the same message when I restarted the computer The only way I can get Windows to work is if I use the Recovery Disc I had made which then allows me to start windows I have been unable to remove the startup manager in Windows or in the Recovery mode It starts and then hangs half through I also cannot remove True Image 2013 It starts then says it has encountered an error
Any help would be greatly appreciated as Iam at a loss Apart from reinstalling the system

I have little Win8 experience, so I'll let someone else answer that.

For future reference, FYI:

I do not see the value of the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager. The bootable Rescue Media is available when needed, so I don't see any reason to allow the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager to modify the PC's boot. Acronis Startup Recovery Manager adds complexity and risk without any real value over using the bootable Rescue Media. If activated, it modifies your system drive Master Boot Record (MBR), which can cause problems with multi-boot managers and other low-level disk utilities. I prefer just to use the bootable Rescue Media when needed, either from CD or USB flash drive.

Hi Folks Further to my serious problems I had placed Acronis Secure Zone on my external USB hard drive which now appears to be a mistake When I disconnected the USB drive and after using my Windows 7 Disc and doing a repair the boot manager then appeared much to my relief When in Windows 7 I reconnected the USB external drive the Acronis Secure Zone had disappeared I was also able to reinstall Acronis True Image 2013 with no more problems So 2 things I have found 1.Do not put Acronis Secure Zone on an External USB Hard Drive and 2. When you have a dual boot system DO NOT ENABLE the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager
I hope this advice may help anyone with similar problems

Thanks for your report. I frequently advise forum members not to use the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager or the Acronis Secure Zone. They were intended for a specific use long ago, on laptops with no easy method of external backup. As external drives are so inexpensive and portable now, I see no value in the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager or the Acronis Secure Zone.
