Acronis stops working after I deleted backup files

Thread needs solution

Problem: Acronis has stopped performing backups
I am using Acronis True Image Home 2009 v.12.0.0.9709 working on Windows XP
I normally back up my C:\\ drive to a network computer hard drive or to an external hard drive.

Today, Acronis has stopped performing backups to either of these locations.

I have no hint as to why this is happening because Acronis is not giving any error messages. My guess is that it might be related to the fact that I deleted a few backup archives directly without letting Acronis remove the backups.

How do I find out the problem or correct my error of deleting backups which Acronis thinks still exists?

Please help me to fix Acronis so that it will start performing backups again.

Are you getting an error message or are the tasks just not running?

Do manual (unscheduled) backups work?

You might try updating to the latest build (9,809) and see if that helps.

MudCrab,

Manual backups do not work to a network drive, or to my external hard drive. The backup wizzard works, and the summary is correct, but when I click on "proceed", nothing happens. The small popup which indicates that a backup is underway does not appear. There is no error message, no log entry, but an "unscheduled task" is created with an "idle" status and a time of "12:00:00" (that was not the actual time, and no date is written).

MudCrab,

Interestingly, updating Acronis corrected my problem and Acronis began to do backups again. Go Figure!

Anyway, thank you for making the suggestion to update.
