Acronis TI 2011 Home Restore problem
I have been using Acronis TI 2009 home on my Dell XP machine for years without any problems. The backups and restores worked fine. I installed Acronis TI 2011 home on my Dell Studio 8100 with Windows 7 professional 64 bit. After faithfully doing full backups to an external HD, for two years, I finally had the need to do a restore. Because I could not start windows, I used my created Acronis Boot disk at Build 6942, update 3. When I tried to start a full restore, the wizard required I specify the source of the restore file and the destination locations. I had no problem locating and doing a validate on the external HD. However, I could not satisfy the wizard’s questions as to what partitions to store and where to store them. I selected the three destination partitions “OS ©, the recovery partition, and the small unnamed file “ that was included in the backup process in partition mode. I even tried adding the MBR record to see if it would do the restore. It appeared to start each time, but then it would stop and ask for a change in the destination. Needless to say, my backups were now useless. I would like to see a simple detailed procedure to start the restore process to see what I am doing wrong.
Is there a problem using TI 2011 on my Windows 7 professional 64bit machine? My first thought was to go with Acrois TI 2013 Home edition to see if that works. However after reading some of the reviews, it appears the 2013 version is more difficult to use, and may not work correctly on Windows 7 Pro. I really want to have backup. Is there a simpler backup program for just doing full backups and full restores? I am not a PC GURU, so I am looking for something that is easy to follow instructions without having to read between the lines to understand some of the options. Any help you can give me would be appreciated. If I had the ability to speak with an Acronis support person while I was attempting the restore function, it might have been a big help.

It costs around $10. Not sure if they will support 2011 version now (although in bootable media it remained the same)

when exactly - after the operations began or on some previous step? How exactly - i.e. don't hesitate to post the full message?
