Acronis TI Enterprise 9.1 - laptop Shuts Down

Thread needs solution

Have been using TI E Server 9.1 for quite some time on Laptop.

Back-ups incremental or full without issue. Just recently during the maual
backup process the laptop will power down.

Set ALL control panel power options to NEVER. External drive has plently of space. Incremental, full doesn't matter. Tried different external drive - same results.

Backup gets to like 30%, maybe as much as 60%, then POW, the laptop
shuts down cold. No message appears before the event.

Using XP Pro.

Any ideas?

Cpu overheating perhaps? Is there enough air space below the laptop? Try putting a fan to blow on it.

DwnNDrty - you were correct ! put a hair dryer(on cool) blowing under and i backed up
just fine.

I guess i'm not sure why it started over-heating, since i've been doing the same basic
backup for a year or so.

Not sure if i need to get one of those laptop cooler thing a ma jigs, or increase the airgap. I've had about a 3/8in spacer, but perhaps a larger one might work.

Anyway - problem solved.

Thanks !!!!

It might just need cleaned/blown out. Sometimes dirt, dust, hair, etc. clog up the fan and heatsinks. It's also possible that the fan (if it has one), isn't working correctly.

What MudCrab said ... especially if you rest the laptop on a soft surface like the bed or sofa, or even on your lap - tends to pick up bits of lint and dust. A cooling pad with two fans (usb powered) will help a lot, but will reduce your battery time when running on battery only.
