Acronis TI Home 2010 has stopped working....just when you run it.

Thread needs solution

Hi all, it's my 1st post here :D

I downloaded the latest release of Acronis TI 2010 Home (build 7046) but it gave a lot of issues.
First, i tried installing the new release over the old one (without uninstalling it): i thought that it should detect the previous version and update it...but installed TI for the second time (under Control Panel on the Program & Functions it appeared 2 times)... The damage was made.....

I run the Windows Installer Cleanup tool cause Windows won't let me uninstall TI from the CPanel. (Once started, the uninstall process losts it self without any message...).

Then i used the cleanup utility released by Acronis to clean the system from processes and so on...all went fine but at the next reboot, when i finished install (with success) directly the 7046 build TI doesn't start...Windows says that it has stopped working and it give me 3 tmp txt files with the error logs.

I tried to make the procedure about 3 times and there is no way to get TI installed & working. Every time i get the same error.

Some idea?!

Thanks

Hello gabriweb,

First of all, please accept our profound apologies for the difficulties you've experienced.

Let me assist you.

Indeed, most likely the issue was caused by the fact that the software wasn't installed properly. However, to find out the exact reason of the issue we need some additional information from you. Could you please do the following?

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

Thank you Ilya.

The last episode was not posted so i am going to update the history:

After tried several times to get the 7046 build installed, suddenly Windows Vista stopped working.
It ended with an infinite loop load/restart at the boot procedure..

Fortunately i had a backup made some days ago and i restored everything.

Now i leaved the first release of TI 2010 that comes with the backup, but i am afraid of what can happen trying again to install the 7046 build.

It is correct to install the latest build over the old one without uninstalling it? Or i need to completely uninstall the old version, rebooting and installing the new one?

I will try the steps you suggested if i have some trouble again.

You will have notice about that :D

Thanks
Gabriele

Gabriele,
Some people can install over the old program and some cannot. It depends a lot on what you have installed. Since you have already had problems, I would certainly suggest that you use the Windows Add/remove option and uninstall the prior build of TrueImage and then reboot.

Then reinstall the 7046 build. Should that install still cause you problem, then I would uninstall 7046 and run an Acronis cleaner and then perform the 7046 install again. Since you have a working backup which can be restored, keep that backup just in case there is a need.

Thanks GroverH

I tried both solutions you suggested, but without success.
TrueImage.exe crash as i double click the icon to open it...

Had uninstalled, cleaned, rebooted and the reinstalled...nothing to do.

Now i think i will follow the procedure described by Ilya to see if there is a way to get the 7046 build working.

Note that the original TIH 2010 release was working properly without any problem.

Thanks again

Gabriele

Ilya,

i followed the first two steps you suggested, and i saved all files produced.
About the support request, even if i purchased the full licence i have to buy the "Pay per Incident Home Service"?

I tried to install a virtual PC with Oracle VirtualBox. Mounted Windows Vista Ultimate on it and updated all Windows stuff; then installed the 7046 build of TI 2010 with the system CLEAN, with only Vista. It works...

This means that in my working OS there are some apps or some registry issue that makes crash TI...
I will try to restore the initial Windows Vista (clean) image with the boot CD of True Image and reinstall all software step by step beginning with TI 7046.
