Acronis TI Running Unscheduled Backup

Thread needs solution

I have a backup scheduled on one of my drives to start at 5:30pm on Mon, Wed, Fri. There's also a duplicate that runs at 5:30 am on the same days, same drive that is unscheduled. How do I remove the unscheduled backup from my PC. I don't see it in the list of scheduled backups in Acronis 2015.

Thanks!

Tyman, welcome to these User Forums.

When you say that you have "a duplicate that runs at 5:30 am on the same days, same drive that is unscheduled." - that sounds like a contradiction, i.e. if it runs at 5:30am then it must also be scheduled to do so?

If you can see the duplicate backup task then you should also be able to set it to be not scheduled.

If it is unscheduled but is still running as if it was scheduled for 5:30am each day, then you should download the Acronis Scheduler Manager tool (link in my signature below) and use this to identify and remove the scheduled task.

To do this.  First run the schedmgr.exe as Administrator - this will open a Command Prompt type window.  Type the command get list to find a list of all your scheduled tasks - this list will give you a task identifier, i.e. 1-1 plus in the text for the identifier, the name of the configuration file for the task in the C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts folder.

Check each file to identify the correct one for the duplicate 5:30am task, then select that task using the 'task n-n' command followed by task delete to remove that single task.

See the help information in the KB document for the Acronis Scheduler Manager for more information on the commands that can be used.

Thanks for your reply. I guess I had a pour choice of words here. I don't have a duplicate task scheduled but when I open my list of backups, I see that there was a backup of the drive made at 5:30 am and then a backup made 12 hours later on the same day, same drive. I do not have the early morning backup scheduled. I did run the "Scheduler Manager" and compared those files with the files in the script folder. All are a match with no extra files. So I'm wondering why there is something making the software backup the drive in the morning when I don't have it scheduled to do so.

I also opened all of the script files and there is only one that is used for backing up the drive in question.

Thanks for your time!

Was your computer turned off when the previous 5:30pm backup was scheduled, if so, the 5:30am backup could simply be a case of running the missed backup after the computer was restarted again?

Without more information from such as the backup task logs it is difficult to guess why you are seeing the extra backup?  Is this happening every day or is it just a one off occurrence?

Thanks,

I'll watch this a little more closely this week and report back!
