Acronis True Home 2010 - computer just shuts off - no warning

I have the 2010 version. I usually boot from my CD Drive and back up to an external HDD. Over the past week the backup will start and then at some point and time the computer shuts off. No warning no messages. It just shuts off. Then I have to repair the external HDD (allocated space which is not being used) and jusy to be safe I repair the internal HDD. I am able to do a restore from the same CD without prpoblems. I just ordered the 2013 version. Has anyone else had this problem, and do you think 2013 will fix my problem? Also can 2013 read my 2010 backups? Oh just to be clear, I tested all of the hardware components. There were no failures. All of the data is readable. There are also no bad sectors on any HDD's.
